There are many causes of sneezing in dogs. some potential causes are inhalation of a foreign body (grass seed, dust, etc), allergies, a nasal or upper respiratory infection or a nasal tumor to name a few. If Moehawk is otherwise acting normal, you could try Benadryl in case this is related to allergies. If he is lethargic, develops nasal discharge or the sneezing continues, I would recommend having him seen by a veterinarian. His vet could help determine the exact cause of the sneezing and how to best treat Moehawk. Hope he feels better soon!

Ouch! Any new or suddenly growing growth like this should be checked out by your vet in person ASAP. Allergies, infections, skin irritation from rubbing it on things, and some growths and tumors can all cause spots like that on the nose, and can also cause rapid changes and discoloration like this. Until you can get to your vet, I would place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Amber and keep the spot clean and dry to help reduce any further irritation. It is also a good idea to monitor the size and shape of it and how rapidly it is changing as this can help your vet figure out what may be going on. Your vet will likely take a full history as well as a potential sample of the spot to see what cells are present and provide treatment as needed.

Ouch! Due to how inflamed that looks I would definitely schedule a vet visit ASAP. Sudden growths/irritations like that can be due to a number of things including bacterial infections, tumors, irritation from digging/rubbing at the spot too much, allergies, etc so it's good to see your vet. They'll likely want to take a sample of the area to determine what is going on and how best to treat it. In the meantime, it's a good idea to place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Nova to keep her from rubbing at the spot, as well as keep the area clean and dry. If the area is rapidly growing in size, taking note of the size, color, shape changes, etc can help your vet better determine what is going on. If you are noticing any other symptoms (sneezing, fever, loss of appetite, etc) these are important to let your vet know as well.

Is it safe to give refrigerated amoxicillin to a 8 week old kitten (who was a stray) who has an upper respiratory infection? The kitten already has completed the 10 days of amoxicillin that the vet prescribed. However, he is still sneezing (no other symptoms lingering). Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. The answer is, it depends. We need more information. When was the refrigerated amoxicillin reconstituted? If it was longer than 14 days ago then it is no longer good. Is this formulation the same mg/ml as the one you got from the veterinarian? It is best for you to repost with that information so we can help you better. Honestly, though, if he is only sneezing, has no other symptoms and is eating/drinking well I would not bother with the antibiotics. Usually a URI is due to a mixed infection of bacteria and viruses - you cannot treat the viral portion with antibiotics and typically after 10 days the bacterial portion is under control. You are better off letting his own immune system kick in. I recommend you use something like Imuquin to help boost his immunity instead of using antibiotics. My otherwise healthy 3 year old lab started coughing heavily at 5:30 this morning. He has had episodes of the heavy cough about 1-2 times per hour since. Nothing comes up; he has been able to eat and drink normally. He has also urinated as normal. He is behaving, moving, and interacting normally with all humans and animals. He has no discoloration of his gums, tongue, or nose. We believe he may have swallowed a piece of a toy, but doesn’t appear in any discomfort. Should we see his vet?

Hello, thank you for you using PetCaoch. Sorry that Fozzy is coughing. The most likely diagnosis for a young dog that is coughing would be kennel cough (Bordetella). Even if vaccinated against it he could still be infected. It's kind of like the COVID vaccine for us - it may lessen symptoms but does not stop infection. While young dogs also tend to ingest pieces of toys (or other objects) they do not usually cough when this happens. They typically vomit and have inappetence. While possible, it is not as likely as kennel cough. Another possibility is that there is something stuck in the back of his throat (ie: a piece of stick or something like that). In my many years in veterinary medicine I have not seen this happen very often but it is possible. I do think you should take him to the vet for an exam. This is something that is very difficult to "diagnose" via the internet without an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Some types of insulation, such as fiberglass, can be irritating to the respiratory system and cause problems. If he is having symptoms such as a cough and sneezing, I do think it's worth getting him checked out again by a vet, and that may include x-rays. I hope this helps!
