It is too small to be used for much beyond transport, quarantine or temporary housing (i.e. during cleaning of main enclosure). The plastic construction does not allow for light or heat sources which most reptiles or exotic pets require.

My dog has a bump on her lip that appears to be swollen with a puncture wound in the middle. She’s had it for over a month now and is slowly getting bigger. Does it look like an insect bite?

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Ellie. I see what you mean about the bump on her limp. I would expect that if it were an insect bite, it would have gone away by now, not gotten bigger. I'm wondering if that bump is a kind of growth (likely benign given her young age) or if it could be a cyst. Given that she has had it for over a month and it's getting bigger, this is something that needs to be checked out by a vet. Any suspicious bumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the bump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the bump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. Give her vet a call to make her an appointment. I hope this helps!

I have a 14 year old mini Aussie, who has this (see picture) he is not in pain, nor is distracted by this. It looks like insect bite, but don't know. We live in Delaware and he is exposed to deer. No other issues- good energy, appetite not sure what to do outside of vet (which is 30 days out)

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. This lesion looks like bruising or an area of necrosis (dead tissue) but it it is hard to tell because I cannot enlarge the photo. A spider bite can do this but outside of that there are no other insect bites that I can think of that would cause this type of reaction. I do think you should take Wall-E to a vet for an exam. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. This looks to be a mild skin infection. Why it happened, we almost never know for sure. It could be from an insect bite but again, no way to know for sure. It does not look serious. I suggest you buy these medicated pads (linked below) and use them twice a day on the affected area. If after about 7-10 days it does not look better then you should have Maxwell examined by your veterinarian. I got my tortoise 2 months ago and I've been trying to find a vet ever since. Which has been difficult in my area. He is a horsefeild tortoise and has cracks in his shell and on his plastron. I want to know how heal them and are they from injury or parasites??

You should really try to find a local veterinarian to examine him as he likely needs more in depth treatment than what you can provide at home with over the counter remedies. Those uneven pitted spots may be shell rot. Cleaning the shell with an old toothbrush, and then applying betadine antiseptic (available at your local pharmacy) and then letting your turtle’s shell dry for a period of time…and the reapplying daily for several weeks is a standard treatment. Painted turtles are semi aquatic and should have an area of dry land in their enclosure where they can bask. Best wishes!
