My King Charles cavalier has developed bright red blood parches in the outer area of the brown of both eyes. She has recently been prescribed antibiotics (Therios) for a skin condition, Apoquel (for arthritis) and 500g Paracetamol daily for pain relief of arthritis. She also takes Yumove and fish oil. Could the combination of drugs have caused the blood build up in her eyes? We have stopped all prescribed medications to hope this clears up on it own.

If you can attach a picture of her eyes that might help us. However, none of those medications nor the combination of those meds would explain blood patches in the eyes. I am concerned that she may have a serious issue going on. Has she had any bleeding from her nose or around her teeth? any blood in the water bowl, etc? Bloody urine, blood in stool, any bruising anywhere or little areas that look like bleeding under the skin? (look in her groin area, inside of her earflap, on her gums. If she has signs of bleeding anywhere else, it could be that she is not clotting her blood properly leading to inappropriate bleeding. This can happen in the platelets in the blood are very low or if her liver isn't making clotting factors needed to form a clot. Because this can be a very serious problem, please take her to your vet to be evaluated. If her clotting is normal, it could be that she has inflammation in her eyes, or some other eye issue causing this. Was there any chance she had a "strangulation" episode? Wrapped herself around the neck in her leash, got her collar stuck on something, etc-- when they strangulate one or both eyes can have some bleeding in the sclera (white part of the edge of the cornea) . Again, I thinks unlikely the meds she was on. Thank you for asking PetCoach, I hope Poppy is feeling well.
