How should dental cleaning be done in cats? How often? Can I do it myself or should it be at a vet?

Annual dental cleanings under anesthesia are recommended in both dogs and cats to help prevent periodontal disease. I would have a veterinarian perform a thorough dental cleaning under anesthesia. This is the most effective way at cleaning teeth.
