I took my dog to the vet after she had diaherria for several days. Ran test and all were negative so they gave her metronidazole and a probiotic. After a week he had no diaherria but went straight to not pooping at all. As in, just peeing and not even trying to poop. He is in good spirits and playful but it's been 3 days of not even trying to poop. He runs to pee and comes right back in. Is this normal after having horrible diaherria for a week? What do I give him? I gave a bit of milk n pumpkin

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Scout. This is fairly common after a bout of diarrhea. Most dogs do not eat well when they are sick. The diarrhea will empty out the gastrointestinal tract. It can take a number of days of eating normally again for him to need to have a bowel movement. If he is eating, drinking and acting normal, then you likely do not need to worry. He should defecate soon. However, if he is acting sick or straining to defecate, then he needs to see his veterinarian again. I hope this information helps!
