My dog keeps wrenching/dry heaving. Should I be concerned? He also didn’t eat his dinner, which isn’t 100% unusual (he’s a small breed and eats like a cat sometimes), but i thought I’d note: A few other factors 1. I spilled a bunch of vegetable oil at dinner and he licked up a bunch of it before I could notice it was spillt. 2. Two days ago he ate a beef bone, he’s since been fine but could that have caused problems?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Poe. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian. Vegetable oil is very high in fat and can cause gastrointestinal upset. A beef bone can splinter can cause damage to the intestines. Either of these scenarios can cause vomiting. In other cases, the retching sound can actually be associated with a cough due to a respiratory tract infection. This is typically a hacking noise that may produce a white foamy material. The veterinarian will examine him and determine how best to treat him. I hope this information helps!
