my dog appears to have an insect bite on the flap of her ear. She takes Gabapentin twice a day and meloxicam once a day. Can I also give her Benadryl for the bite? She is a 10 year old boxer who weighs 99.5 pounds.

Although Benadryl is safe to use with both Gabapentin and Meloxicam, I can't legally recommend using it since I have not personally examined Minnie. Regardless, a dose or two of Benadryl is unlikely to change the effects of an insect bite dramatically, but could potentially help if she's experiencing a more significant allergic reaction. If you're noticing significant swelling or hives, it's best to contact your vet to see if they can recommend a specific dose for Minnie if it's indicated. In most cases, insect bites just need a few days to resolve without any other treatment. I hope that everything goes well!
