Hey, My dog seems to get an upset stomach quite easily, and I haven’t quite found a diet that has a consistent stool. I found it best to cook him chicken, rice, carrot and peas or beans. It stopped him being gassy and stinky but his stool is, sometimes solid, sometimes partly soft, which results in him have a dag of poo stuck on his bum/tail. Just wondering if there’s a supplement or something else I should put in his diet to help? Thanks

You can try a veterinary probiotic. There are several on the market such as FortiFlora or ProViable. Find them in your local pet store or veterinary clinic. Plain, canned pumpkin (NOT pie filling) can also be used as a source of dietary fiber and may help firm up stool. Mix in a teaspoon or two with each meal. If Bentley still has soft stool, submit a stool sample to your veterinarian to diagnose intestinal parasites, bacterial overgrowth or maldigestion/malabsorption issues. You can also discuss food allergies, allergy testing and food elimination trials with your veterinarian.
