My kitty 5 1/2mo got spayed, after picking her up I noticed her continuously going to the litter box with no pee coming out. Told them what was going on and was informed that during the procedure her bladder tore. They got her in checked her over and gave me some amoxicillin for UTI. It's been about a week or so since I've stopped the medicine. Shes not going as frequently but the amount of urine is still half compared to her sister. Is this normal and will this cause future problems for her?

Hello. I am so sorry that no one has addressed your question sooner. It is difficult to predict how the accidental tear in Belladonna's urinary bladder will affect her in the future. Most bladder tears, or cuts from incisions, heal very well, & very quickly, so I really do not expect there to be long term problems. However, I am a little alarmed that your veterinarian did not disclose that the urinary bladder was nicked during her spay surgery. That sends up a bit of a red flag about their ethics. As long as Belladonna is urinating, I would not be as concerned about the volume as most likely she is adequately emptying her bladder. But if there are future concerns, you might want to have her seen by another veterinary clinic, just to get a second opinion. Thanks for contacting PetCoach.
