My friend's dog had puppies. Iagreed to adopt 1 of the 9. They live in a tiny apartment and the puppies and mom dog are all in a crate almost the entire day until she gets off work. I have been reading up about puppy training (Ian Dunbar) and these 6 week old puppies are really too much for the crate, but in all my readings, the pup still needs to be with littermates to socialize with dogs and learn bite inhibition. What is the priority?

Hello. Ideally, a puppy should remain with its mother & siblings until 8-12 weeks to learn proper puppy behavior, but this is often not possible. Many puppies that are adopted early do just fine, so it might be best to get your puppy out of a potentially hazardous environment. You can bring your pup for "playdays" with its siblings for several weeks until the other pups are placed with new homes. Thanks for using PetCoach.
