My girl was diagnosed with another eye ulcer last night (the first was in August and healed fully). She has had two doses of Terramycin and still seems very painful - squinting and not wanting to move much. Her previous ulcer she seemed to feel better more quickly, but she started on vetericyn and switched to Terramycin after two weeks. How long do dogs typically have to be in treatment before they start feeling better?

Poor girl. In uncomplicated cases of an eye ulcer the pet normally starts to improve significantly after 7 days. I would have her seen again my your vet soon. The eye ulcer this time around may be deeper or perhaps even resistant to the antibiotic. Sometimes pets also require surgical procedures on the eye to get the ulcer to heal. I hope that Taurie’s eye ulcer heals up well soon! Best of luck and take care.
