my cats has been experiencing a lot of pain the past few days. She has been eating and drinking as normal but she's sleeping all the time and it takes her a very long time to lay herself down. We cannot afford to take her to the vet, which if it were an emergency we wouldn't hesitate to take her. It's just arthritis and I just need to know what I can give her or do to make her more comfortable. She's a mixed breed tabby around 8yrs old and weighs about 15lbs.

Unfortunately, there aren't any over the counter medications that are safe for pain in cats. Even Tylenol could be deadly. My concern is that this may not be arthritis. Arthritis can be hard to diagnose in cats, and is often underdiagnosed, because they are so good at hiding the symptoms. Other disease processes, like kidney disease, liver disease, or masses in the abdomen can also cause similar symptoms. I would recommend saving up some money to have Lil Miss examined by a vet.
