My cat just licked the tip of a soap pump. The soap contains 3 essential oil ( Juniperus virginiana, lavender, and orange oil). See attached photo for ingredients. Looking online I see that lavender and orange oils are toxic to cats, however its not clear on the quantity or degree of toxicity. She hated the taste but don’t think she spit. anything out. She seems normal. She couldn’t have gotten more than a very small amount in her. Do you think the very small amount would be harmful? Thanks.

Hello. Cats are very curious, but very careful when tasting new things. It is very unlikely that she got more that a small lick begore deciding this was pretty nasty stuff. Essential oils can be toxic to cats, the problem occurs when people mistakenly apply them to a pet, & then a cat is almost forced to lick her coat. So investigating the soap pump will not be harmful to Squishy. Thanks for using PetCoach.
