Hi! This is Sweetie, my collie mix! She’s about 15 years old but still gets around great and has energy like a puppy! She recently got this gland/mole looking spot on her upper back side. It doesn’t seem to hurt her and doesn’t mind it being touched. However it gets nasty gunk in it (as pictured) and within a day of me cleaning it all off, it is back again and has a bad odor to it. Any idea what it is or what to do about it?

Sweetie Pie looks like a happy girl! You might ask your veterinarian about a steroid cream to decrease inflammation. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Once it is dried, you can apply a dab of organic coconut oil and rub it in well. Make sure she does not lick this as it can cause GI upset. You can also ask your vet if removal is the best option. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.
