My cat has scratched a pretty big patch on herself due to some ear issue (I have a vet appointment on Saturday to diagnose), and I will be getting her a cone to prevent her from hurting herself more. My worry now is if there is anything I need to do to clean her wound to prevent infection? I know cat scratches can have lots of bacteria, and the last thing I want is for her to have an infection on top of everything else.

Hello and thank you for contacting PetCoach. You should clean the wound twice daily with antiseptic skin solution, 4% chlorhexidine would be the best (it is available over-the-counter at pharmacies). Also, put a head cone on her as soon as possible to avoid further damage.
