Why can you get some flea products in stores and some only from the ver with an RX? For example, I get revolution flea meds from my vet and I can’t get them anywhere else w/o my Vet’s RX yet other brands sell their flea collars, topical and oral flea meds in store w/o needing an RX. Is revolution too powerful or something? I don’t get it.

This is because the best and strongest ones are sold by a vet as prescription only. The ones you get OTC are not as good, and frankly some are awful. Hartz, for one. I would never recommend it. I know of a recent case from a colleague that a cat died from Hartz application. I don't know how it's still on the market.
