Leash training puppies should be done slowly and utilize positive reinforcement. Begin by attaching the leash to your puppy’s collar and allow the puppy to drag the leash around. Encourage your pet to walk around by offering treats and play toys. Once the puppy is fine dragging around the leash, begin to pick up the end of the leash and follow the puppy around. Again, make this fun! Once the puppy is ok with this, begin to give direction. Keep this all positive and fun. Make sure the training sessions are in a safe, distraction free area (like inside the house or the back yard). Keep the sessions short and positive. Please feel free to post any additional questions.
