Hello, my 17 month year old male golden retriever (35 kg) has eaten around 10 grapes. I have many articles stating they are poisonous. What do i do, it is too late to take him to the vet. Anything i can do at home?

Hi, yes it is very dangerous as it can cause Kidneys to stop working properly (acute kidney injury).. Good news is that you still have time to do something about it. If ingestion has occurred in the last two hours sickness can be induced, and I also induce it up to 4 hours post ingestion anyway. Regardless of time of ingestion intravenous fluids can also be started to flush/support the kidneys and activated charcoal can be given to try to bind toxins as much as possible. One single grape/raisin/sultana is unlikely to affect the kidneys, however toxic effects are not dose dependent so I would definitely seek veterinary help as soon as possible if your dog has eaten 10 grapes. Hope this helps !
