General description

Marbofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that is effective against many species of bacteria. It can also be effective against blood-borne infectious agents such as mycoplasma. Gastrointestinal side effects can occur as a side effect of this antibiotic.

Marbofloxacin works by stopping bacterial replication.

Dosage

**Dogs and Cats**: 2 - 5.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight by mouth every 24 hours.

Forms

Marbofloxacin tablets for oral use are available in 25, 50, 100 and 200 milligram sizes.

Store tablets in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.

Susceptible bacterial infections should start to clear during the course of treatment.

Missed Dosage

If a dose is missed, continue with the next dosage at the scheduled time.

Overdose / acute toxicity

Overdose can cause toxic effects to the central nervous system.

Contraindications

Do not use in: * Young or growing animals * Pregnant animals or animals that are lactating * Animals that have seizures

Drug interactions

Do not use with theophylline. Do not use with other drugs that contain aluminum.

Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals.
