General description

Marbofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic that is effective against many species of bacteria. It can also be effective against blood-borne infectious agents such as mycoplasma. Gastrointestinal side effects can occur as a side effect of this antibiotic.

Marbofloxacin works by stopping bacterial replication.

Dosage

  • Dogs and Cats: 2 - 5.5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight by mouth every 24 hours.

Forms

Marbofloxacin tablets for oral use are available in 25, 50, 100 and 200 milligram sizes.

Store tablets in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight.

Susceptible bacterial infections should start to clear during the course of treatment.

Missed Dosage

If a dose is missed, continue with the next dosage at the scheduled time.

Overdose / acute toxicity

Overdose can cause toxic effects to the central nervous system.

Contraindications

Do not use in:
Young or growing animals
Pregnant animals or animals that are lactating
Animals that have seizures

Drug interactions

Do not use with theophylline. Do not use with other drugs that contain aluminum.

Do not use in pregnant or lactating animals.
