Do not give Ronnie any medications without the advice of your veterinarian. Make sure she is warm and keep her as stress free as possible. Remove climbing branches temporarily to prevent falls. Blood work can be done to check uric acid levels to confirm or rule out gout and to assess kidney function. Other possibilities include metabolic bone disease (mbd) and a fracture.

So, my mom got a new leopard gecko, and many of you probably won't know this answer, because it's really hard to become a reptile vet, and there isn't many. Anyways, we got him from this girl, I don't know why she gave him away or anything but her parents put him on the porch and told us to come get it. When we got him I noticed his left eye wasn't open. It kinda Looks shrunken...

Any new pet should be examined by a veterinarian within 72 hours of arriving home to confirm good health or to diagnose and treat any pre existing conditions. It is difficult to see clearly, but this gecko may have sustained infection or trauma to the eye. A physical exam should be done and treatment administered if indicated. He may need antibiotics, or nothing (hopefully). Leopard geckos are great lizards and quite easy to care for. You can follow this link for more information: http://www.anapsid.org/leopardgek.html

I kissed my girl pet rat snake on her lips because I have been wanting to tame her plus she is getting tamed and I have not known that they can cause diseases. I also been having aching problems in my body where everything hurts so bad. Is this the sign of a disease from her. I love animals and reptiles, I also have been body training her on a sheet, she is a smart girl. And her name is Bubbles. What should I do? Because I have been sharing my bed with her, kissing her, not washing my hands

Reptiles do harbour a lot of bacteria such as salmonella. If you feel unwell it could be unrelated but best to visit your Dr to be safe. In future I would avoid kissing her and make sure you wash your hands after handling her or her habitat. I would advise against sleeping with r as you could accidentally roll onto her.

Hello, my bearded dragon isn't growing for the past 8 months. He's only 10 inches from head to tail and this really concerns me. I feed him a proper diet, 4-7 crickets a day occasionally with some reptile calcium. His temperature is 89 degrees F and his UVB is 10. I also notice that he isn't as energetic, he's always tired looking and when I place him in my hand I can feel his ribs. Please help!

Oscar should be eating 2-3 times that amount. He should be fed twice daily. Gut load prey for 24 hours prior to feeding. He should be getting calcium 5 days a week and a multivitamin twice a week. He can eat crickets, dubia roaches and phoenix worms in addition to fresh chopped greens. His basking area should be 90-100 F. The rest of the tank should range from 76 F on the cool side to 86 F on the warm side. Make sure the UVB light is 10" - 12" away from him but no more than 18" away and not blocked by glass or plexiglass. Have him examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites.

My bearded dragon vomited the other day. Is that normal

No, vomiting is never normal in reptiles or other pets. Occasional regurgitation can occur if the pet is stressed, handled roughly or too soon after eating. It can also happen if prey or food that is too large is ingested. Monitor for recurrence and see your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles if it continues.

Hi, i had a turtle bought yesterday. Since im saving money, i bought a tupperware as his temporary shelter... And i have a lot of questions like what do i need to do for him to eat because he never eats anything i gave him to eat like veggies. I've done a lot of research but i just can't understand it all. Also, he's energetic as hell. Is it normal or is there something wrong about him?

He can use a plastic tote until you get a tank, but it should be a much larger one than Guido is in right now. Find one that is at least 20 gallons. Provide water deep enough for him to swim in as well as a dry area to rest and bask. Provide a water filter, water heater, heat lamp and UVB light source. You can feed a commercial pelleted or stick diet supplemented with fresh greens and prey such as feeder fish or nightcrawlers. He may not be eating because water or ambient temperatures are too low. Low temps can affect appetite and digestion in reptiles. The link below will provide more information regarding slider care. http://www.anapsid.org/reslider.html

Based on the pictures provided, what morph is my crested gecko? Thanks for answering all my questions! I want to lean everything I can about my crestie :)

It is difficult to determine because the images are not close up or clear. There is no distinct pattern (stripes, spots, etc), so this may be a patternless morph crestie. You can read more and see examples of different morphs at the link below. http://www.moonvalleyreptiles.com/crested-geckos/morphs

Can my gecko cange sex?

Hi and thank you for your question. To the best of my knowledge this has not (yet) been recorded in Geckos, though it is known to occur in other lizards. Sex determination in geckos is very interesting and complex. Have a look here for some more info: http://www.geckotime.com/geckos-determine-sex/ Regards

Is Easy Spot okay to put on the back of my 14 pound cat's neck? she had it before and now I wonder if it's safe? contains 9.7% Fipronil and the rest supposedly inert ingredients. According to Wikipedia, Fipronil isn't safe for rabbits, bees, earthworms, and fringe-toed lizards. Merri sometimes has ear mites and under her chin. this stuff worked, but is it safe for her? Eradamite fluid seems to require endless inner ear applications and repeat Q tips in her ear causes Meri too much pain.

As long as it is a cat approved product and not a dog product an the wright ranges are correct then it is fine to use. A small amount of cats have an allergic reaction to any topical product where there can be hair loss at the application site but if this has never happened before then it is unlikely to happen now
