Is it ok to not feed my crested gecko live insects, and just feed him Pangea with insects, and Repashy diet? Also, my crested gecko has lots of things to climb on and hide in, yet he prefers to stay at the bottom of the cage. He is pretty lethargic, but I'm not sure if it's just he is a very mellow crestie... (I have the temps around 65 to 75 degrees during the day, and at night it's around 60 degrees. He eats almost every other day, sometimes 2 times a week.) Thanks!

Those temperatures are much too cold for a crested gecko. Ideally, daytime temps should range between 78F and 85F with nighttime Temps no lower than the low 70s F. Low temps can affect appetite and activity in reptiles. Some form of prey is necessary as a protein source in addition to the fruit and vegetable mixes. My mom’s bearded dragon has swollen eyes, what might be the cause

That is likely to be due to a mild to moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to an allergy or infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well (even if a bilateral injury is unlikely). I just adopted a leopard gecko three days ago. She has been fine until today. Lethargic, hasn't defecated since I brought her home, but eats regularly. Right now she is laying on the floor of her tank, not moving. Typically she hides in her cave unless she is exploring, eating, drinking, or notices me walk by.

These signs could be caused by a fecal impaction, which is a fairly common problem in leopard geckos. There are different ways to resolve it. You can try to increase the temperature inside the cage (up to 97F°) to increase metabolism or you can try to give her a luke warm water bath twice daily or give her 1-2 drops of mineral/olive oil once daily for 3 days to provide laxative effect and lubrication. If the signs do not resolve a check up would be then necessary. St the base of my young aqua iguana’s back right leg, it is very brown and it looks as if he is shedding but it isn’t spreading. His right front foot and underneath his head have become pale. Is this anything i should be concerned about?

It could be a hard shed or local infection (bacterial or fungal). Soak or mist him with warm water. Cleanse the area with diluted betadine or chlorhexidine solution daily. If the spot doesn't resolve or spreads, have him examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet.

Hello, my dad rescued a turtle years ago, i assume its ayellow footed tortoise from what i have investigated. im not sure how often i should feed him?, every day or every other day? and if its common of him to bite so hard, he will try to catch you every time and bite you very hard, i dont know if this is normal. He also eats birds but catches them himself, no one really knows how, please help me getting this solved! thanks !

You can feed him daily. They are omnivorous and will eat plants as well as proteins (in the form of insects or small mammals). There is likely nothing you can do to stop his bird hunting ways. My leopard geckos hide had fallen on uts tail when i was taking the hide out to feed her. She is a baby, and when ut happened the tail was wiggling and she was running franticly. I am very concerned because its a heavy hide and im not sure if her lower back is injured she seems to be okay but im not sure. Her tail looked as if it was cut in multiple places. She is now hiding. Please help

Monitor her for lethargy or difficulty walking for the next day or two. If she's moving slower or not at all, have her examined by your veterinarian or an experienced herp vet. Gently clean the abrasions/wounds with diluted betadine or chlorhexidine solution. Keep her on slate, paper towels or reptile carpet until she heals. You don't want any substrate contaminating the wounds and introducing infection. In the future, take Wanda out of her enclosure to feed her or simply work around the hide and other furniture to avoid accidents.

My bearded dragon is behaving strangely. Her right forearm and hand look puffy. She's walking with what looks similar to a limp. She's been acting normal up until yesterday evening. Now she's not eating much and won't move much. She hasn't fallen. Her eyes are bright and she's very alert. We don't know what to do. Please help!

A big concern regarding the swelling and lameness would be metabolic bone disease (MBD). Ideally, Beans should be examined by your herp veterinarian to diagnose injury or illness. In the meantime, review the diet, vitamin/mineral supplementation and UVB lighting. Confirm the bulb is not obstructed by glass or plexiglass and replace if older than 6 months old. Gut load all prey for 24 hours prior to offering to maximize3 nutritional value. Use quality supplements such as Rep-Cal HerptiVite and Calcium w/Vit D3.

does my turtle tank look like a safe habitat. and plus they havent eaten in 3 weeks

Add water to a depth no more than twice the length of the shells. Maintain water quality via or frequent water changes. Provide heat lamps and UVB lighting. If they are cold, they won't eat. Once they warm up, offer appropriately sized bits of turtle sticks or pellets. You can read more about slider care here: http://www.anapsid.org/reslider.html

Can I feed my juvenile bearded dragon any fruits and vegetables on your list?

Yes, you can feed a variety of shredded or torn vegetables and fruits such as green beans, orange-fleshed squash, carrots, escarole, parsley, mustard, dandelion and collard greens, raspberries, mango, and cantaloupe. Just make sure it chopped very small for him. I hope that helps and all is well with Blizzard.
