If your baby bird doesn't have all his feathers in yet, he could still be having a hard time regulating temperature. Feeding food that is chilled or too cold may cause his temperature to decrease some, causing the shivering. Making sure the food is room temperature and that your baby bird is in a warm enough environment can help. However, if the shivering continues or if you see any other signs of illness it is best to have it checked out by a vet.

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I'm sorry that Mango is having this issue. Yes, many different metals can cause toxicity in birds if ingested but the main ones of concern are lead and zinc. You will need to take Mango to an avian vet when they are open. The metal snap will need to be removed even if it is made of a non harmless metal like stainless steel. I suggest you go to a speciality center as they are more likely to have an endoscope which will be better than doing an open surgery for removal. Sometimes, depending on where the metal piece is located in the GI tract and the size of the snap, they can try removal via bulking agents fed orally instead of doing any invasive procedures. My pup started vomiting with waves of violent shaking on 11/7. They tested her for Parvo and said she was negative but she had hookworms so they sent us home with medicine. A couple of days ago she started pooping blood. The vet told me that she still had hookworms so we’re back on the meds. She hiccups every day, multiple times a day. While she is energetic at times, I notice she sleeps a ton and has what appear to be violent nightmares. Does she have a massive problem?

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I'm sorry that Rizzo is having this issue. I would not be concerned about the hiccups. That can certainly be normal in puppies. I suggest you video her doing that though so you can show the vet what she is doing. The same with the "nightmares" - video if at all possible. Dogs don't really have nightmares. They can dream and will sometimes "run" or "bark" while dreaming but nothing "violent". I would be concerned that she may be having seizures. I'm not saying it is impossible for her to have night terrors it is just not that common and it is a diagnosis of exclusion. Meaning we cannot test directly for it so we have to rule out all underlying potential medical issues first. Without videos it will be hard for your vet to know what direction to take. I cannot tell you if she has something serious or not. More testing is likely needed. A severe hookworm burden can cause all her symptoms so keep that in mind....

Hi my dog Deogie has been biting and licking his paws and trying to literally pull off his toe nails like they itch or something and his paws are red and his nail bed is a light brown color. Can he have athletes foot? And can I use hydrocortisone cream or athletes foot spray? Please help it looks like it can be really annoying for my baby!!

If he is biting and licking his paws a lot, that tells me he is quite itchy, and that is usually a sign of allergies. It's not a sign of a fungal infection, and it's not called athlete's foot in dogs, it's called ringworm. This is something that needs to be diagnosed by a vet in order for him to be treated correctly, and I would take him into a vet today or tomorrow. Until he sees a vet, put a cone on him to keep him from biting at his paws. You can buy one at a pet store if you don't have one at home already. I hope this helps!

Unfortunately there are no pain relievers you can give him, as human ones are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I recommend getting him into a vet asap to get this checked out. Hi! I have two cats who I adopted together as kittens, who have ALWAYS peed outside the litterbox (poop inside), on any material on the floor, though we have 2 older cats who go in the boxes. On a whim, I bought weewee pads and placed them where the cats had been going on the floor, and I realized that they must have been fostered as babies with pads (grrrr). I would like to get some area rugs and want to know how to keep them off!

Substrate preference can be very difficult for cats! I would start by moving the pee pads into an empty litter box to get the kittens used to going in and out of it, and then gradually begin to add in a little litter over the pee pads, until they can be transitioned from it to the litter fully. You may also need to try a few litter types, such as paper or corn cob litter, that may be closer in substrate feel to the peed pads and may encourage them to use it. Daily scooping and making sure the other cats aren't bullying the kittens away from the box can also help reduce accidents. I would also keep any area rugs and the like away from the potty areas so they don't confuse the two. You can also use an enzymatic cleaner to help clean up any accidents and break down urine particles that may be encouraging them to keep using the spot.
