Nubbins should be examined by an experienced herp veterinarian. Any open wounds are at risk of infection. They wounds should be properly cleaned and antibiotics administered if indicated. Dry docking him is the right thing to do until the wounds heal. He will need to be placed in water for about an hour a day to eat, rehydrate and defecate. Sorry to hear Marley isn't doing so well with his ears. It is not possible to tell from tge picture tve exact nature of the irritation but if it is indeed infected (typically red, hot, painful and smelly), he will need prescription medication from his regular vet. In the meantime I recommend gently cleaning tge outer war with cotton wool and a pet safe ear cleaner to reduce the build up of wax/discharge

There seems to be two wounds underneath my cat’s ear. There is not one on the other side. Does it look like ringworm or caused by fleas? What can I use to help her? It was smaller a week ago.

Yes, I see the two wounds, and they could be caused by her scratching at her ear. While that could be due to fleas, it may be she has an ear infection causing her to scratch at her ears. Continually scratching at them would cause the wounds to get bigger. This does need to be checked out by a vet, as if she does have an ear infection, it could be caused by ear mites, yeast, or bacteria. In addition, the ear drum needs to be visualized through an otoscope to make sure it's still intact before any medication is given. Ear problems can be considered an emergency as leaving them untreated can lead to hearing loss. Given that these wounds are getting bigger, I'd see if you can get her into her vet asap. Are these just hairballs my cat is daily throwing up, or is he ingesting something like yarn? He's bad to chew and swallow strange stuff, but we can't find what the source of these might be. You can see that his stomach contents have to come up when these gobs are in there, so he's not getting enough nutrition. One of the pellets shown is pretty solid, and the other is squishy. It is ot possible to identify the source from the photo but your vet may be able to examine to confirm if it is indeed cat hair or synthetic yarn. I would recommend feeding a diet formulated for hair ball reduction for 3-4weeks. A full health check and abdominal xrays would be recommended to rule out any partial obstruction or sooner if there is any weight loss

My dog, a 6 month old husky shepherd lab mix, ate a wooden knob off of my nightstand and I believe she chewed it and swallowed it. The screw fell back into the drawer itself (thank god) but I cannot locate the knob so I believe she ate it. She seems completely normal. No loss in appetite, normal behavior, no vomiting. Should I take her to a vet? She’s still super chipper and acting like a puppy. I don’t know how long it has been missing either. (Had to have been a day maybe two)

Given that you think it may have been a day or two since she ate it, and because she is acting normally, I'd just keep an eye on her for now. If she starts vomiting, stops eating or has a loss of appetite, has diarrhea, blood in her poop, starts acting lethargic, and/or has any other concerning behavior, then I would take her into the vet right away. I would monitor her over the next week to be safe. I hope this helps!

Hello, A few days ago I noticed matted fur in my dog under her ear and at later inspection it must have been a scab. Her and our other dog often play rough so I'm wondering if something has caught her and because of where it is it isn't healing due to her scratching. I've placed an ecollar on her now and have been cleaning it, it bleeds very slightly at first when doing this. Could you advise if there is anything else I need to do. No vet appts until Wednesday, am I OK to monitor until then?

Ouch! That does look pretty irritated, so if it doesn't scab over or continues to look weepy, it's a good idea to have your vet take that look on Wednesday as it may need some anitbiotics. What you're doing at home currently is perfect! I'd continue to use the E-collar to prevent pawing at it, and keep the area clean and dry. You can use a clean compress to gently keep it clean so as to not cause more irritation by rubbing at it or accidentally bumping the scab as excessive cleaning may actually be slowing down the healing process. It should be fine to wait until Wednesday to have it looked at unless it massively swells up, becomes painful to the touch, or starts to ooze any cloudy or green discolored debris (all signs of infection).
