A swollen jaw,in an iguana is usually typical of metabolic bone disease. This comes about due to a lack of Calcium and or a lack of vitamin D to absorb the calcium. You will need to take him to a reptile vet to see if he needs calcium injections and vitamin D substitution. In future to avoid this problem you need to feed calcium rich greens, which you can sprinkle calcium from a cuttle bone onto. Then you need to make sure he has a uvb light that he can bask under at least 12 hours a day to get the vitamin D. Then of course everything else such as temperature, humidity and ventilation need to be correct.

Hello. If Scarlett has 2 lumps pretty much over each hip, & with Scarlett being a slightly older dog, then my guess is she has "love handles". If Scarlett is also a little overweight, the hips are a common place for some fat to accumulate. Rest assured that tumors rarely happen in the same area on both sides of the body, & since your vet is rather unconcerned, then it sounds like Scarlett is fine. If you are really concerned, you can ask your veterinarian to do a fine needle aspirate in which a very small needle is used to remove a drop or 2 of sample from under the lumps. Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I think this is likely a stye which is localized infection and/or inflammation that occurs in or around the eyelids. It is typically characterized by a red, swollen bump on or near the edge of the eyelid. You can try this at home to see if it clears up: 1. Soak a clean, soft cloth or cotton ball in warm (not hot) water. 2. Gently wring out excess water. 3. Hold the warm compress against your dog's closed eye for 5-10 minutes, several times a day. 4. Be sure the compress is not too hot to avoid burning your dog's skin or eye. Many dogs will not tolerate this but you can try. My cat woke up today with a slightly swollen and irritated left eye. He rubbed it not long ago. I wonder if the swelling is just irritation and will go down on its own or not.

Ori is such a handsome boy! Swelling and irritation of the eye can indicate an eye infection and/or an injury to the eye. He may be rubbing the eye because it hurts him. Unfortunately I cannot say without seeing him in person if the swelling will go down on it's own or not, and any eye problem is an emergency that requires an immediate vet visit. This is because the eye is such a delicate and important structure, and leaving problems untreated can lead to vision loss. In your picture, I can see that one is is smaller than the other, indicating the swelling. I recommend taking him into a vet asap to get this checked out. I hope this helps.

Hi, I have noticed that some of my 3 week old puppies have spots on their mouths. Some only have the one spot whilst some have quite a few and others have non whatsoever. One of the pups at first the spots were quite inflamed and red but now have gone down and look white. Can they get puppy acne at this age? I know strangles can be a worry but their lymph nodes are not swollen and they do not have spots anywhere else and are all fine in themselves feeding and playing etc. thank you

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. These bump are pustules, so yes, sort of like acne but it is really inflammation of the hair follicles. It can be the beginning of puppy strangles so still continue to look out for that. You have two options: 1. Do nothing and just monitor them and let their immune systems take care of it as long as they are otherwise fine. OR 2. You can use these medicated pads once daily on the affected areas until the issue is resolved. My cat has been having issues with his left eye for months- he keeps it shut and it was concluded by his vet to not be infected and to have nothing inside. she suggested removing a tooth that may have effected his eye and for a while he eye looked better but still a little closed. Recently again now the corner of the eye is irritated and swollen and he is keeping it shut. He also rubs the corner of his mouth on that side on things and gets cuts from irritating it. No vet knows what is wrong :(

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I know that you are struggling to find out what is going on with Bean but there is not going to be much I can tell you without examining him myself. I suggest you take him to a veterinary ophthalmologist if your regular vet is unable to find the cause. Keeping the eye close indicates pain so you need to get this figured out as you cannot leave him in pain. There are MANY different things that can be going on here: scratched cornea, glaucoma, herpes keratitis, uveitis, abscess associated with a tooth, neoplasia (cancer), and those are just a few of the possibilities. He needs to have testing and having an eye specialist check him is going to be your best bet. I find these two near you. Hi, I got home tonight and realized that my dog is licking at his 'sheath' and that's not normal for him. I looked and it is red, no lumps, bumps, swelling, or discharge. It just looks irritated, I have put a bit of Vaseline hoping it would deter the licking. Is this something that could be alarming?

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. Sorry Duke it having this issue. Typically a dog will constantly start licking a specific area if it is causing pain or discomfort. Remember, they cannot verbally tell us something is wrong so, often times, you have to go by their behaviors to tell you something is amiss. There may be something inside the prepuce (sheath) that is irritating, he could have a urinary tract issue/infection that is causing the licking, etc. The vet will need to check him penis, a urine sample and explore the prepuce. I do think you need to take him to your vet for an exam, however, I do not think it is an emergency. In the meantime though, you should put a cone collar on him to prevent the licking.
