My dog was neutered on 7/6/22 and I’ve caught him licking a few times the past two days and now I’m worried. He was wearing like a full body suit, no cone, but I discovered he could still reach his incision. I’ve attached photos. I think the dark black/red spot is stitches but now I’m nervous it may be infected or something more. Don’t know if I should take him in to get check or not. He’s acting completely normal, is eating fine so doesn’t seem to be bothering him too much.

It looks like he caused some mild bleeding while licking and a scab has formed. It is important to prevent him from continuing to traumatize the area or he may open the incision or cause an infection. If the suit is not adequate, you should get a “cone” ASAP and keep it on at all times until the area is healed. Thank you for using Petcoach
