Hi! My name is Taylor and my boyfriend is will we just got this sweet giant Great Dane and was wondering what the best recommendation on food and joint care we should do he was having bad gas and runny poop we tried two dog food and now have one that he has solid poops in and better gas but I worry about his joints I’ll know in the morning what kind we are feeding him now, but I was looking at blue buffalo basic for large dog because of the fish oil and glucosamine and wanted an expert opinion!

Interesting question! It can be very difficult to balance all the needs in a dog with a sensitive stomach and I agree a food designed for large breeds is best; you can add additional supplementation such as yumove or arthri-aid omega if required. Many giant breed foods such as royal canin are already supplemented and generally well tolerated in most dogs

At Dr Daniel Fonza; unfortunately we don't have Duoxo and Benadryl here but I've found a alternative shampoo similar to Duoxo that costs about 40 dollars in my country. Also where can I find the fish oils and the others? I'll try to ask friends if someone can help me out. Thanks a lot!

You should have Diphenhydramine, that is the same as Benadryl, just not the brand name. That is the active ingredient in Benadryl. You should have an equivalent to this where you are. Check drug stores and ask someone and I am sure you will be able to find an alternative. As for the fish oils, you should be able to perform a simple online search for canine fish oils or visit any local pet store near you that offers pet supplements.

I am looking for a product for my labrador to take because of the indication of hip dysplasia. What do you think of this? Concentrated fish oil 751.8 g (min 33% EPA and 22% DHA, TG * Eq at 210.9 g EPA and 142.4 g DHA per kg; Gelatin and Glycerin; Additives (per kg ): Vitamins and pro-vitamins: Vitamin E (D-alpha-Tocopherol acetate) 16.6 gr. Analytical Composition Protein 15% Fat content: 76.8% Gross Fiber: <1% Inorganic matter (crude ash): <0,3% Moisture Content: <0.8% Essential acid content: 41

That product is fine but it is not addressing all the issues with the joints. This is just fish oil (which is fine) but he will need something that contains glucosamine, chondroitin and MSM to be of any real benefit. I think this would be more beneficial although you could do both. http://www.zooplus.com/shop/dogs/supplements_specialty_food/bones_joints/bayer/635754 Hope this helps.

My puppy very picky eater, has almost never eats in the morning regardless on what kind of food he is being offered. I started goving him Tomlyn Nutri high calorie dietary supplements. I have noticed that he is also shedding profusel, for that i've been told to use pure raw nutrition premium organic wild caught pure alaskan salmon with vitamin d3 potassium b complex and antioxidants fish oil. Is it okto give him both? Since Tomlyn nutri suplement also have omega 3 oil in it.

Hi and thanks for your post this afternoon. The Tomlyn Nutri Supplement is okay, but the salmon oil with the added D3 and Potassium vitamins can be toxic to dogs. Unless your veterinarian has specifically told you to give the D3 and Potassium Supplement, I would advise against it. Regular Salmon Oil without the added D3 and Potassium (just regular plain Salmon or Fish Oil) would be better then the added extra D3 and Potassium. It is okay to give Salmon Oil (or other Fish Oil) with the Tomyln Nutri, just avoid the D3 and Potassium. I hope this helps and thanks for using Boop by Petco!

Hi my mother in law gave my dog a small amount of fish that contained garlic and onion last night. Today my dog has been sick with some vomiting. Do I need to take her to the vet?

Hello, and thank you for using Boop by Petco. While onion and garlic are toxic to dogs, their toxicity is dose-dependent so a small amount of fish flavored with a little onion and garlic would most likely not contain enough to be toxic, unless the dish was really loaded with onions/garlic. Onions and garlic cause destruction of red blood cells and anemia, which would cause a dog to be lethargic with pale gums. If Sady is sick and vomiting today, I suspect it's more likely GI upset from getting something different from her normal diet, rather than being directly related to the onions & garlic. She would feel better fastest if you took her to the vet and got something to calm her GI tract down, but if she's otherwise acting pretty normal you could try offering her small amounts of bland food today such as boiled lowfat chicken breast and white rice, and if she's still vomiting tomorrow then have her seen by your vet. If her vomiting is accompanied by lack of appetite or lethargy, then I would have her seen right away. Hope this helps and Sady feels better soon!

My seemingly happy and healthy hamster made a really weird scream noise out of no where. She lives in a 45 gal. Aquarium and eats regular hamster mix with mini corn on the cob treats. There’s no other animals to stress her out. She’s a Syrian hamster

She might have stuck one of her feet in the cage or maybe a wheel if she has one, it could be due to a fall, it's very hard to know. if she is fine now then i wouldn't worry about it but if she seems lethargic or not herself you should take her to the vet to get ti checked.

My dog had his regular fish souo this afternoon and suddenly started itching his eyes, i was thinking the pepper got into his eyes but before i knew it his whole face wace bulging out, his mouth, his nose area, his eyes. Please i really need help, we are hours away from any vet now. I helped by putting ice on the swollen areas which i think has helped a bit but he keeps shaking his head vigourously. I just lost a dog, I don't want to loose another, i need help.

It looks as if Simba is having an allergic reaction to something. If you are unable to get Simba to a vet for treatment you can try to give him some benedryl, at a dose of 1mg/pound. This may help decrease the swelling and help stop the reaction. If Simba begins to have trouble breathing, starts vomiting or having diarrhea, this means that the allergic reaction is more severe and he will need to be seen by a vet immediately. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco. Best of luck.

Where can I find an antiseptic shampoo for Bella's rash? I've found on Amazon Curaserb but unfortunately it seems to be sold out and no longer in market, I've asked for a shampoo but the vet said that it's not needed since her rash will fade but it's increasing. I'm actually going to purchase Nexgard Spectra and some fish oil capsules before we leave for a road trip. Thank you for being so kind and patient with me. I appreciate that.

My favorite brand is Duoxo. It comes in a shampoo that has chlorhexidine and climbazole that treats bacterial and fungal problems. However, if you are unable to find this or something similar at a pet store then any drug store is likely to have a chlorhexidine OR salicylic acid shampoo in their human shampoo section. I hope this helps! Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

My betta fish is being mopey, he normally is active but since I changed his water last he isn't moving around as much. He's in an one gallon glass bowl that I bought from walmart. His water is at a constant 74-76 degrees, I keep everything consistent. He is either staying at the top of the bowl and it seems like he isn't breathing (I don't know he maybe, but his little fins on each side aren't moving) I am worried

I would recommend to change his water again and make sure you have a water conditioner that is not expired. I would also recommend to upgrade Smitty to a 3-5 gallon aquarium with a filtration system and a light. These tanks tend to create a healthier environment because the water is moving. You could add in live plants to provide a little extra oxygen. I hope Smitty starts feeling better!
