Sir my 3 year dog is suffering from gastrointestinal disease . In my area i have no vet doctor. So can u please suggest me a medicine.and is fish meat is good in this disease. And he also not gaining weight help plz amen!

Poor guy. It is hard to say what and how you should treat him without running any kind of testing to determine exactly what GI disease he has. Some GI diseases include intestinal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease, lymphoma (cancer of the intestines). There are also some underlying disorders that maninfest through the GI tract which includes: pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and malabsorption disorders (VIt B deficiency) just to name a few. I am not sure what your pets exact symptoms are but you can try feeding him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese, added fiber (1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin, not the pie filling, in his food daily), and probiotics (Culturelle over the counter). I would also recommend treating him with a broad spectrum dewormer such as Pyrantel Palmoate or Fenbendazole (Panacur) from your local pet store or feed store. Please feel free to repost your question with more specirics about your pets actual symptoms. I would also encourage you to go outside your local area to find a vet to see him if he does not respond well to the suggestions above. I hope that your pet gets well soon. Best wishes and take care.

Can I feed boiled pompfret fish to my 3month ragdoll kitten?

Yes you can, no problems with that, as long as you take out all the fishbones. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

hello, i bought a fish tank last week ans followed all the instructions the lady gave me for example leave the water in there for 3 days before buying the fish, cleaning the decorations bought the liquid that promotes good bacteria ect. yesterday I bought the fish and put them in the water after they had sat in the bag in the water for half an hour. after a few hours they were swimming at the top trying to get air. 1 died today and im worried the other will do the same. what should i do?

The quick start liquid will add nitrifying bacteria but will not eliminate ammonia or nitrites. Both are harmful and can kill fish in high enough concentrations. You can use a home test kit to test the water or you can submit a sample for testing. Most pet stores or aquarists will do this for free or for a nominal fee. There are chemical additives you can use to decrease levels. When adding water, use treated water or aged water. Ideally, the tank should be left empty for about 4 weeks to properly establish the nitrogen cycle before adding fish. At this point, you may lose the second fish regardless of treatment. Test the water, make adjustments, let the tank cycle and start fresh. Adding an airstone can increase oxygen levels.

I have a 15 year old cat, she has high blood pressure, renal failure (early), a heart murmur. She takes amodip and beneforntin. She has had blood in her faeces quite a lot, where our vet diagnosed colitis 2/3 times. Mainly on a fish flavour wet food diet. Changed recently to meat flavour dry food diet. She seems to be depressed and withdrawn will this be due to what's wrong with her or something else? Thank you.

It is difficult to tell for sure without checking her over. It could be that her colitis is making her feel run down or it could be a slight worsening of one of her other conditions. I would recommend to keep an eye on how much she is drinking and how is her appetite and if she is having any vomiting. If she is just a little lethargic, I would book her in for a check up with your vet in the morning. Whilst if she is vomiting orhaving more diarrhoea than usual, I would recommend an earlier check up.

My fish is dead but it hasn't floated so it must be alive still. It was a female Siamese fighting fish that I've only had for a month or so and it died of unknown causes but it was healthy when we checked yesterday and all of the levels are fine how they are. Also s fish i had before died by getting stuck behind the filter but that must not be anything relating to this death as it wasn't present in the tank when it happened. Can you help me know what to do next please!

I am assuming that you think your fish is dead because it is swimming on its side. If this is the case, then it may very well still be alive. This behavior can be due to a number of reasons, the first being high nitrate levels in the water. Even though you have checked the water levels, I would recommend a 20% to 25% water change every other day and see if her health improves. You might also want to raise the temperature a degree or two since warmer water boosts the immune systems and metabolism. A sideways orientation sometimes occurs from bloat (overfeeding). Skip one day of feeding and then give Master Fu half the amount of food you usually give to see if this will correct the problem. Finally, Master Fu could also be suffering from a viral or parasitic swim bladder disease. If none of the other recommendations resolve the issue, you will need to speak to a veterinarian about appropriate testing and treatment for this disease.

Hello, Our fish got stuck under an aquarium cave and we found him this morning with damaged fins. He still seems to be breathing but cannot swim with the fin damage. Is this a situation where his fins with regrow and survive? If yes, how can we assist him in survival/regrowth?

This presentation could be compatible with fin rot, which is a bacterial or fungal infection. It is unlikely that the primary cause is traumatic, unless Tank is itchy (that could be compatible with a bacterial infection anyway) and he is scratching himself constantly. The approach must be logic anyway starting from water quality check and treating with some antibiotics. Begin by submitting a water sample for quality testing. Most pet stores will do this for free or a nominal fee. If water quality is good and there are no major imbalances, water should be treated with antibiotics. Please do not hesitate to contact us again on the forum or by requesting a consultation if you have any more questions or to discuss it any further.

Why does my dogs pee smell like fish an blood comes out in her pee an she is a very well house broke dog an keeps having accidents in floor

It sounds like Stella may have a UTI causing the bad smell and blood in her urine. She needs to see a vet for this as soon as possible. The vet can do a physical exam, blood tests, and urinalysis to confirm she does have a UTI, and can prescribe antibiotics to treat it.

Hi,I have a pet betta fish that has recently been swimming weirdly. it leans towards one side a lot and is having difficulty while swimming. I left him with a friend for 3 weeks over break where his water was not changed and he was not fed properly. I have tried to make him fast for 3 days at a stretch and also changed his water (solutions i read online) but it does not seem to help. i am very concerned, what do I do? He usually lies horizontally on top of his bowl. Thank you for your help :)

It's possible Blue may have a problem with his swim bladder which helps control a fish's upward and downward movement and helps them to stay upright. Testing the water and making sure the filtration system (yes, bettas require more than just a bowl to live comfortably) is working properly may also help. If you see any other strange signs such as growths, molds, etc, most of these can be treated with products found in your local pet store.

Most of the time I Cooke chicken and fish with a little carrot or squash or potato or spinach with one table spoon olive oil or sesame oil for my cats. And some days I give them cats original good. Do you agree with this program?

Home prepared diets can be successfully fed to cats but it is important to fully research in order to provide all of the necessary nutrients in appropriate amounts to prevent over or undersupply of nutritional needs. IT is important to consult a trained nutritionist such as the Tufts University clinic which provide a range of well balanced recipes for home prepared food. A complete and balanced prepared diet should be fed with occasional treats otherwise
