I have a bearded dragon who is male and is 2 years 10 months old. Since the past week to two he hasn't been going to the toilet as often as he used to. His general mood hasn't changed and he still has a great appetite.

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear that Nero is having a potential problem. It may be time to re evaluate your husbandry program to ensure that you are doing everything right from housing, conditions, diet, etc. Here's two great links for their care and husbandry http://www.anapsid.org/bearded.html http://www.reptilesmagazine.com/Lizard-Species/Bearded-Dragon/ A few common reasons for constipation include chronic dehydration and poor gut motility due to low calcium levels. These links should help you get back on track. 10 min water soaks once daily may also help including adding calcium to his diet. I hope these help you resolve the problem. I wish you good luck.

I have a 2 year old male Leopard Gecko.I bought him a year ago and he was very skinny (24 gr).Now he is in a 60×45×30 exo terra and he weights 48 grams. He eats mealworms, superworms and waxworms. He usee to love crickets but now he doesn't touch them. From time to time he stops eating and makes me stressed.I know about nutrition and care and all and he's healthy but sometimes ge stops eating for a couple of weeks or a month! What am I doing wrong? He is very calm around be and well tamed.

Make sure that Bleach has enough belly heat to digest food. Measure the temperature of the FLOOR of the terrarium and make sure that it is between 88-93 degrees. Leopard geckos are unable to properly digest their food if they do not have an adequate belly temperature. Also, make sure you are not overfeeding Bleach. Offer two appropriately sized insects for every inch of a leopard gecko’s total length. A meal every other day is fine.

My bearded dragon is 6 years old and whenever I pick her up, she makes a wheezing sounds. This also happens when she runs or walks. I don't know the current cage temp. I am worried. What can I do for her?

Confirm correct cage temps and humidity levels. Ideally, a thermometer and hygrometer should be placed at each end of the encosure. Monitor for lethargy, loss of appetite or discharge from the eyes or nose. These can all indicate respiratory infection. Have her examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles to diagnose infection or injury. More information regarding environmental parameters can be found here: http://www.anapsid.org/bearded.html

Hello. I have a 5yr old Sulcata Tortoise. I recently discovered him upside down in his enclosure and it appeared that he spiked himself. I went and soaked him and was putting eye drops in his eyes. Then I heard him start wheezing. He's currently crawling around his enclosure and drinking normally. I just noticed this wheezing. It sounds like a tiny whistle through his nostrils. What could it be?

If he was upside down for an extended period of time, his internal organs may have compressed his lungs. This can cause inflammation. Luckily, you discovered him because it can also cause suffocation and death. You can choose to monitor him to see if the wheeze resolves. If not, or if he becomes lethargic, loses his appetite or develops nasal discharge then he should be examined by your herp veterinarian.

At night should the temperature be in the 60s or below or high 90s degree like the day time ? Should I just turn off all lights during the night.? I usually keep just the red infrared heat light (We're currently in the summer season) I have a bearded dragon

I think leaving the red light on at night is fine. I would try not to let it get below 60s at night. I am going to attach a great resource about husbandry and diet for your bearded dragon to help give you better guidelines on his temperature, lighting, and diet. I hope this helps. http://www.anapsid.org/bearded.html

I just found this little tortoise 2 days ago in the woods, tried looking around for his/hers mom didn't find anything, so I volunteered to take her as a pet, the problems I am facing are: I don't know if she's eating or drinking and I don't know if she's pooping and I wanna know if this temporary shelter is good for at least a month with the proper heating, cause I keep it at the balcony and the temperature reaches 20°C at the lowest, and want to know about food it eats, heating....

Hatchlings do not need third mother's. They hatch and leave the nest site immediately to search for food and live their lives. Ideally, you should have the the tortoise examined by a veterinarian experienced in treating reptiles. He or she will be able to determine the species after which detailed care information can be provided. Just go a young bearded dragon, and his stool is very runny

The first thing I would do is take Eragon to a vet and has his feces examined. It can be common for young reptiles to have parasites and he might need to be dewormed. If he does not have parasites the vet can discuss proper husbandry with you. Make sure to dust the crickets with calcium and gut load them before feeding.

We have a bearded dragon that has been hiding for a couple months now, she won’t drink water unless we feed her through a syringe and won’t eat.

Review and confirm proper environmental parameters. A cold dragon will not eat. Soak her in a warm 50/50 solution of water and unflavored PediaLyte. This will warm her up and provide hydration. You can gently massage her abdomen during the soak to stimulate defecation if she is constipated or impacted. Young beardies should not be kept on sand as they can ingest it during feeding/eating. This puts them at risk of impaction. If she doesn't begin eating, have her examined by your veterinarian or a vet experienced in treating reptiles. Submit a stool sample to diagnose intestinal parasites. You can read more about bearded dragon care here: http://www.anapsid.org/bearded.html

When I got my Leopard gecko (Jupiiter) her tail was HUGE. But now it seems kinda thin but not seriously thin (Check image). Also I have a friend who has a bearded dragon and sometimes his neck/chin is black. Is that normal?

The tail functions as storage for nutrients and water. It will shrink if she doesn't eat enough and she draws from her reserves. A bearded dragon's chin (or beard) will turn black when stressed. This is normal but the negative stimuli should be identified and then reduced or eliminated.
