It is hard to tell from the picture if your fish has fungal plaques on the scales or if this is normal pigment. I would recommend taking your fish to a vet for a necropsy. That will allow for biopsies and cultures to be sent to the lab to determine the cause of death. IF it is fungal disease I would recommend treating the tank and cleaning the environment well.

My previous question was answered but I wanted to add. So my cat has constipation, vomiting a little after pooping, I had her on glandex for a few days but now she has diaherra, I was told miralax can help but I do have benefiber on hand, would that work instead? How much do I give and can I give her benefiber daily for the rest her life or switch back to glandex for daily life long supplement to prevent constipation again?

Hi there and thank you for using Boop by Petco! Miralax and Benefiber are quite different from each other. I would not use Miralax if she is having diarrhea as you no longer need a laxative. Benefiber would be my recommendation to help bulk up the stool since she is experiencing diarrhea now. Glandex is fine to continue long term as it is a good source of fiber. You can also use Vetasyl capsules for cats (protein in capsule form). If using Benefiber, I would use ~1/2 tsp added to the food. You can also use Laxatone to help keep stools soft and help prevent constipation. I hope this helps!

This is day 7 of my dog having the neutered procedure. The purple is gentian violet that we put to avoid infection. He did lick so I am a bit unsure if the swelling is normal .

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. A bit of swelling is normal post-op, even at 7 days. DO NOT allow him to continue to lick it. If you don't have a cone collar then you will need to get one to put on him. Remember, the collar must be long enough to go past the end of his nose or he will still be able to lick it. My kitten of a few months has an ear infection/inflamed ear. Her mother unfortunately ignored her ears when she was a baby, I use polysporin drops to help with her pain and ear wax. This time it seems to really bug her/cause her some pain & her skin around ear canal is more red/pink than the other ear. I'm looking for info on at home treatments or something I can get from a pet store. I live on disability in BC and am trying to avoid a hefty vet bill.

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. The ear, honestly, to me does not look that bad from the photo. Of course I cannot see down into the ear canal or the ear drum without examining her in person with an otoscope so there may be something down there causing the issue. There is no way for me to tell from a photo. If she is really scratching at the ear or starts to scratch it when you touch the ear then chances are she has ear mites. People often mistake an ear mite issue with a bacterial/fungal infection but the treatments are very different. Ear mites are very common in kittens. ( https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/ear-mites-otodectes-in-cats-and-dogs ) The best treatment for ear mites is Revolution topical solution that you would put on like a flea/tick drops on the back of the neck. DO NOT put it in the ear. Typically two doses 3-4 weeks apart is enough to kill all the mites and correct the issues. I would try that before attempting to put medication inside the ear canal at this point. You will need to purchase it from a local vet. Over the counter "ear mite treatments" do not work. Hello. My door was open with a screen net and a raccoon came right up to the door making contact with my cat. Face to face. Is there a way for her to catch anything like that like rabies? Or does a cat have to get bitten for that? I immediately ran up and closed the door. The raccoon was coming to eat the bird seeds. Is there anything to worry about here?

Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco. Rabies is commonly spread through a bite wound. So there is very low risk of rabies transmission based on what you have described as making ocntact through a screen net. It isn't impossible because rabies is found in the saliva, just very unlikely in this scenario. Just keep an eye on your pet Kate for the next 7 days for any abnormal behavior (i.e. excessive vocalization, irrational behaivor, aggressive behavior, and if she is not up to date on her rabies vaccination, I would highly recommend getting her vaccinated asap. I have a 5 and a half day old kitten. I believe his right eye was forced open accidentally by his sister. None of the other kittens in the litter have their eyes open, nor are their eyes even starting to open. I covered the windows to keep the lighting in the room dim. Is there anything else I can do to help him and prevent (hopefully) damage to his eye? The eye is fully open. Thank-you, Caron

At 5 and a half days of age, that is young for the eye to be open, and there is a concern that it won't be fully developed as you fear the eye was forced open. He needs to see a vet right away, as this could permanently damage his eyesight. You are doing the right thing by keeping the lighting dim and covering the windows, and you want to make sure the eye isn't too dry, which is why he needs to see a vet to get checked out. He can't be separated long from his mother, so please bring the mother and siblings to the appointment as well, and I would take them all in today. He should see a vet asap. I hope this helps!

Hello! I’m inquiring about my 10 year old rabbit, Brownie. He has been diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma or osteosarcoma of his left knee. There has been quite a progression of multiple fractures causing him pain in the knee. Our vet gave us two options: amputation of the leg to ease pain or continuing on and opting for palliative care with pain meds until end of life. How will his quality of life be post-surgery since he’s old? Is it worth going through with if he is a senior bunny?

Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Brownie. I'm so very sorry he has cancer. Domestic rabbits typically live between 8-12 years, so he is definitely a senior rabbit. The problem with osteosarcoma is that there is a high risk of metastatis (spreading) to other parts of the body, typically the lungs. I'm not sure if you have had x-rays done of his lungs, but there may be a chance it's already spread. There is a possibility that the spread may not show up on x-rays just yet as the cancer cells are too small to detect at the moment. I'm also not sure about his anesthetic risking, meaning that giving him anesthesia could be very risky at his age depending on his health. There is a lot to consider here, and I'm not sure how much life he would have left after surgery. Sometimes yes the surgery can be worth going through even in a senior animal, but there are other questions that need to be answered like if the cancer has spread and his anesthetic risk. I would discuss these questions with your vet, which will help you make your decision. Other things to consider is that it will take a number of weeks for him to recover from surgery, and that life expectancy after surgery is not very long, usually a couple of months. I would take that into consideration as well when making your decision. I can't tell you which way to go, but I do hope I've helped you with some things to consider. Again, I'm very sorry.
