I would highly recommend taking Sam to the vet. It is unfortunately hard to tell based off the pictures but if he not moving around much I would be concerned that he could have a bone fracture (break) in his leg or lower back. Most bearded dragons have weaker bones due to being in captivity (referred to as metabolic bone disease) and this will cause them to break bones easier. I would make sure you are taking food to him/force feeding him if needed. Also do not forget to gut load the crickets so they are high in calcium.

Ouch! With any new growth like this, it's best to have your vet take a look in person, as it isn't really possible to determine what is causing the growth just from a photo. Your vet can take a sample of the growth as needed with a fine-needle aspirate, or biopsy, to check what cell type is present and if the spot needs further attention. Other causes can be calluses from rubbing, scabbing from a wound or infection under the skin, or other issues. Until you can get to the vet, it's best to keep the area clean and dry and prevent Ginger from licking or chewing at it with an Elizabethan (cone) collar or sock over the spot. Monitoring it for any additional changes such as size, oozing debris, pain, etc, is also a good idea as these observations can help your vet narrow down the cause and best treatment plan.

Hello and thank you for using Pet Coach. That area looks infected to me. That could be related to Loki licking and biting the area. Sometimes though there's a foreign object trapped under the skin like a grass seed or piece of wire. I recommend to have Loki examined in the next few days to have this addressed. In the meantime, there are some things you can do at home which may help. 1. Stop any licking (since this can make it worse) - Loki should wear an elizabethan collar at all times. - Remember that the collar must come out past his nose in order to be effective. 2. Next, wash the area once a day with either plain hand soap (like Dial) or a medicated pet shampoo. Rinse the area well and gently towel dry. -This will help to control the number of topical pathogens as well as remove oil and dead skin cells. 3. Lastly, apply a topical antibiotic twice a day to the red areas. Make sure the skin is dry before application. -Just a dab will do and rub it in well. Neosporin is fine to use. *wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards when handling this wound. 4. Restrict his activity. Since it's on the paw, it can be traumatized by activity. So for now, I recommend minimal to no walks, no running or jumping. Avoid walking on rough surfaces (like dried grass). If the wound gets dirty, you can wash it. I do not recommend to bandage paws. They heal best when exposed to the air and bandaging often encourage infection in paw. I hope this helps and that Loki heals up quickly! Sincerely, Dr. Elizabeth

I just brought my dog to Petco for grooming yesterday. After he came home he was limping (back left foot). I don't know if they accidently cut too far into his claw or if he pulled a muscle getting on or off the grooming table?

Without seeing his paw, I can't say for sure if they cut too far into his claw, but that could be a possibility. It could also be he hurt himself getting on and off the table. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. In addition, I would check his claws to see if any do look abnormally short. If you see a lot of blood coming from one, the area around the claw is hot, warm to the touch, swollen, or you see pus, then he will need to see a vet right away. I hope this helps!

Hi! My 8yo pure Aussie bulldog has come up with these patches on her paws, above her eye, cheek and also she has been limping due to a old hip injury where she needed 2 screws and a small plate- 1 of these screws has gone through the bone to the other side and it’s causing a weeping growth on the inside of her hip underneath her. I’m on disability pension and she’s my Assistance Dog for my CPTSD and I’m currently in my 6th and last wk of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Any min $advise?

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Sassy is having this issue. This looks very serious. When there are metal implants involved you must take her to a vet. The implant needs to be removed (if possible) or the entire bone can become infected (osteomyelitis) causing severe issues that can be life threatening. At the very least she needs antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medications which cannot be purchased over the counter. This is serious and is not something you can treat at home. I do not know where in Australia you are located but I suggest you contact this organization that helps people with veterinary medical bills. Hi my dog Deogie has been biting and licking his paws and trying to literally pull off his toe nails like they itch or something and his paws are red and his nail bed is a light brown color. Can he have athletes foot? And can I use hydrocortisone cream or athletes foot spray? Please help it looks like it can be really annoying for my baby!!

If he is biting and licking his paws a lot, that tells me he is quite itchy, and that is usually a sign of allergies. It's not a sign of a fungal infection, and it's not called athlete's foot in dogs, it's called ringworm. This is something that needs to be diagnosed by a vet in order for him to be treated correctly, and I would take him into a vet today or tomorrow. Until he sees a vet, put a cone on him to keep him from biting at his paws. You can buy one at a pet store if you don't have one at home already. I hope this helps!
