Hello Brenda. You do not have to worry about passing your influenza to your gecko, as it only affects mammals (and of the mammals, mostly humans, and ferrets, in rare cases other mammals and birds) but it will not affect reptiles. So all is well.

I'm glad to see that Pippin has been neutered because this eliminates that possibility of hormone-fueled behavioral changes and aggression. Behavioral changes in cats can occur at any point in time, and could be related to anxiety or stressful situations (even rearranging furniture or introducing new people to the home can be stressful to cats). Without a lot more information and observing Pippin's behaviors, I can't precisely tell you why these changes are occurring. It may be best to consult a veterinary behaviorist in your home so that they can observe everything firsthand. You can also try using calming pheromone collars or diffusers (Feliway is one example), and discussing the use of anxiety medication with Pippin's vet. I hope that all goes well!

We give our own Canine Spectra vaccines, have for many years. We have always gone to the vet right around the same time to have the rabies done too. We've never had any problem doing things this way. Saturday we did all the annual vaccines for the dogs then today was one of our dogs rabies day. We've been going to this vet for years but today was a 1st. Vet said we had to wait 2 full weeks after our vaccines before doing the rabies vaccine and repaying for a 2nd $65 checkup. I don't understand.

Most vaccines can be given in a series on the same day as long as they are given in different injection sites, and your dog doesn't have a history of adverse reactions to vaccines. However, your vet will know your pet best and it's best to contact them with regards to any vaccine protocols they use, as they will have the most up to date information on the vaccine type and manufacturer they are using in their clinic that may counter indicate giving it on the same day. The only other thing I could think would be a potential liability issue if the injection is given the same time as a home-given injection and then an adverse reaction occurred, as it would be hard to determine what injection caused the reaction if not properly documented. If you have documentation of the vaccines you've given at home, I would make sure these are all up to date with your veterinarian to ensure there isn't any miscommunication going on.

My pup started vomiting with waves of violent shaking on 11/7. They tested her for Parvo and said she was negative but she had hookworms so they sent us home with medicine. A couple of days ago she started pooping blood. The vet told me that she still had hookworms so we’re back on the meds. She hiccups every day, multiple times a day. While she is energetic at times, I notice she sleeps a ton and has what appear to be violent nightmares. Does she have a massive problem?

Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. I'm sorry that Rizzo is having this issue. I would not be concerned about the hiccups. That can certainly be normal in puppies. I suggest you video her doing that though so you can show the vet what she is doing. The same with the "nightmares" - video if at all possible. Dogs don't really have nightmares. They can dream and will sometimes "run" or "bark" while dreaming but nothing "violent". I would be concerned that she may be having seizures. I'm not saying it is impossible for her to have night terrors it is just not that common and it is a diagnosis of exclusion. Meaning we cannot test directly for it so we have to rule out all underlying potential medical issues first. Without videos it will be hard for your vet to know what direction to take. I cannot tell you if she has something serious or not. More testing is likely needed. A severe hookworm burden can cause all her symptoms so keep that in mind....

Hello. My door was open with a screen net and a raccoon came right up to the door making contact with my cat. Face to face. Is there a way for her to catch anything like that like rabies? Or does a cat have to get bitten for that? I immediately ran up and closed the door. The raccoon was coming to eat the bird seeds. Is there anything to worry about here?

Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco. Rabies is commonly spread through a bite wound. So there is very low risk of rabies transmission based on what you have described as making ocntact through a screen net. It isn't impossible because rabies is found in the saliva, just very unlikely in this scenario. Just keep an eye on your pet Kate for the next 7 days for any abnormal behavior (i.e. excessive vocalization, irrational behaivor, aggressive behavior, and if she is not up to date on her rabies vaccination, I would highly recommend getting her vaccinated asap. Romeo got his distemper vaccine today at 10 am. It’s 4 pm now and he’s walking slower than usual. Could this be a reaction from the shot? I took him back to vet and they gave him a steroid shot. Should that help? Thank you . No other symptoms. Any others to watch out for?

Hello. I am so sorry about Romeo walking so slow. Sometimes dogs will react to a vaccine the same as we can. Pain, fatigue, a mild fever can all be experienced after receiving a vaccine. Most pets & people recover in about 24 hours, so if Romeo is still having issues tomorrow, or should develop further signs such as vomiting or diarrhea, you will need to contact your veterinarian. The steroid shot should help him to feel better, though a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory medication would have been better. Thanks for contacting Boop by Petco.
