Rocky15, my cat drinks more water then usual & he meows more often, I'm not sure if it has to due with the fact that I had to put Bella down 2 mo ago

Rocky's increased vocalizations could be related to a medical condition or it could be pyschological. Some cats will become more vocal following the loss of a household companion. However, his increased thirst is most likely a symptom of an underlying medical condition such as hyperthyrodism, diabetes, Cushing's disease, kidney or liver failure. Therefore, I recommend that you take Rocky to his local veterinarian for an examination and senior blood work. With treatment, many of the above medical conditions can be managed with dietary and lifestyle changes, at least for a while.

Can I deworm my female cat that's possibly pregnant

Many deworming products are not recommended once pregnancy is established. Tapeworm medications, in particular, can be quite toxic. If you are concerned that your cat has parasites, I recommend that you take a fecal sample to your veterinarian for examination. Your vet can identify the eggs of any parasites your cat may have using a test called a fecal float exam. S/he can then prescribe the safest, most effective dewormer to use in a pregnant cat for that particular parasite.

I see blood drops on floor around cat's water bowl. I've been told two different opinions (1) it is flea poop and the other (2) it could be UTI

Blood drops from flea poop would be very very tiny. Blood drops from a UTI would be b igger, but you would likely see them in the cat litter as well and your kitty would like make a fuss in the box, going frequently but only producing little urine every time. Your kitty could also have a bleeding mouth ulcer, bad gingivitis or teeth, lost a canine tooth and it is now bleeding, or could be bleeding from the nose. I suggest you have a look in her mouth, (gently). If she lost a tooth,, you likely will not have to do anything unless it broke off. If you see sores, or your kitty has a bad smell from her mouth, you need to take her to the vet for an exam. If she appears to have a UTI, then she needs to be examined by a vet also.

My cat for some reason ate a 250 mg stool softener. It's docusate sodium 250 mg. What should I do rush him to the vet or will he be OK.

Hello. Rolo should be ok. This is a high dose for a cat however it shouldn't cause too much trouble. Rolo may have some cramping and diarrhea, so if he is painful then have him seen by a vet, but otherwise just make sure he has lots of water. Good luck with Rolo.

My cat had an anti nausea shot and is not eating just sleeping

Lethargy can be a side effect of an anti-nausea injection such as Cerenia, so that could be why Sunshine is just sleeping. I would monitor her for now, and see if she will eat when she wakes up. You can try to tempt her to eat by offering her some boiled white meat chicken (no bones). If she is still refusing to eat in the morning, I would bring her back into the vet.

Why is it that my cats "penis" like comes out...........when he's biting and holding down the male kitten? Is this normal? I'm brining him to the vet soon but I find this really odd.

This can be completely normal, especially in pets that are intact. Intact males have high levels of testosterone that causes an erection during times of excitation. I wouldn't be too concerned unless it remains out afterwards and doesn't go back in, or your cat starts vocalizing and is seen straining to urinate (signs of a urinary blockage). You can still opt to get him checked out by your vet just to make sure he is physically ok; however he is likely just fine.

Hi, My cat is not well,he is having loose stoles and the area is swollen.Vet advice me to feed him liquid medicine before food and after food but the problem is my cat is very aggressive ,he gets scared and annoyed. He runs away whenever we take the bottle out. So can I feed him his syrup with his ID can food? Before food syrup-Sucrader suspension. After food syrup-Metronidazole benzoate oral suspension IP. Please help me.

Yes, you can mix the metronidazole with the canned food. If he doesn't let you syringe the medication into him orally, then mixing it into the food is the only way you'll be able to medicate him. Do the best you can to get at least the metronidazole into him, as this is most likely to stop the diarrhea. Good luck!

can my 25days kittens sleep in a room with air conditioner 24.5C ?

Great question! During the first three weeks of life, kittens are unable to regulate their body temperature, so temperatures less than 27C can lead to hypothermia if their mother does not keep them warm. Usually by seven weeks of age, they can control their body temperature as well as an adult. Given your kittens are just over three weeks, this still may be a little bit cold for them. I would keep the temperature in their room a bit higher until they are closer to seven weeks of age. I hope this helps!

my cat has a split nail and it was bleeding a little bit. not sure if I need to take him in or do something ?

Poor guy. THis nail looks to be infected. I would take him in for your vet to have a close look at this. He may need to be on a short course of antibiotics if they confirm an infection is present at the nail base. You can try cleaning it with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water in the meantime, until you can get him in. This will at least help antiseptically cleanse the area and also can help with any inflammation. Best of luck with your kitty Diesel and I hope his nail injury resolves soon. Take care!
